Craftsmanship
Wilhelmus Albertus Lammers was a Dutch painter of the late 19th and early 20th century. He was born in Aalten (Netherlands) on April 3, 1857. He first worked as a shoemaker and later discovered his talent for painting farm scenes. He gained fame for his classical painting style with mainly animals in the lead role. His most painted scenes are chicken sheds. After a career as a successful painter, Wilhelmus Albertus Lammers died on February 4, 1913 in Breda (Netherlands).
This work is part of what he has become known for. It reflects a typical Dutch scene of chickens at a chicken shed where the color palette is perfectly matched. It is a small but powerful painting.
