Description
A grey and white abstract by Machteld Katharina Hengeveld.
This special abstract painting was made by Machteld Katharina Hengeveld. She was born in Rotterdam in 1943 and is still active as a visual artist. She makes both figurative and abstract paintings and did this mainly in Oosterhout (The Netherlands). She developed her talents during her training at an art academy in Belgium. She has worked together with Cornelis Le Mair (painter, born 1944) and Gerard van de Weerd (Visual artist, born 1952).
In this painting Machteld Katharina Hengeveld shows the power of abstract painting. With its large dimensions, the painting looks large, but also small. A lot is happening in this painting and yet it radiates peace and balance. The use of the different color shades ensures a smooth transition from light to dark, and from dark to light. In the center are several thicker layers of paint, making it seem as if you are looking at a beautiful calm horizon.
