Description

‘A blue and purple abstract’ by Willem Stoop (1951).

Craftsmanship

Willem Stoop has been working as a visual artist in the Netherlands since 1974. He studied at the academy for visual arts in Rotterdam and graduated in 1974. The Netherlands is not his only workplace, he has also been active in Tuscany for many years. In addition to his career as a visual artist, Stoop has been active for years as a teacher of various courses focused on visual education.

Gouache

A gouache is a painting made with opaque watercolor where the background is no longer visible. The type of paint used is referred to as ‘gouache’ and was also called ‘poster paint’. Originally, gouache and poster paint were different techniques, but today they basically mean the same thing. Gouache is often only used on paper, it does not adhere well to other surfaces.
